Looking back to 2017, it was a busy year combining dressage with a bit of show riding! Mr Jackson went to a lot of ag shows this year as our aim was to qualify for 2018 Sydney Royal, which we have. I also competed at a few SHC events and managed to qualify for the 2018 Grand Nationals. Doing all these shows has been a great way to expose Jackson to lots of different things, and he has become so reliable in the workouts! We still competed a few times at Grand Prix this year, but have mostly been working at home establishing all the work and he was working amazing by the end of the year, so looking forward to doing more Grand Prix tests this year and improving our marks bit by bit. 2018 will be exciting as it will be my first time competing at Sydney Royal and Show Horse Grand Nationals and will be interesting to see how Jackson copes with some bigger shows.
Furst Dance became very consistent in Elementary level with a few scores over 70% and being awarded DNSW Silver Medal for Elementary and Bronze Medal for Medium. He competed at the NSW State Champs and placed top 10. He also did his first Advanced tests before the end of the year and got some good scores. This we will be looking to start the year off at Advanced and work towards Small Tour by the end of the year!
2017 was the first time I ever rode a stallion, I am very thankful to Simonand Olwyn Kale for giving me the opportunity to ride their beautiful stallion Foxground Kathago Lot Z. I couldn't have asked for a better mannered stallion, he was so easy to take out and has such a lovely temperament, I actually have a 4yo son of his which I will be excited to start with this year! Hamish was quite successful in the 2nd half of the year at Prelim and Novice levels winning a few championships along the way. Hamish is currently on a break back at Foxground but will return at the end of January to continue his dressage training. We have already been training most of the Elementary and Medium movements so looking forward to competing at those levels in 2018.
Late last year I completed by EA level 1 General Coach and EA level 1 Dressage Coach accreditations, this was one of my goals from last year. In 2018 I will be working on my level 2 Horse Management and Level 2 Dressage Coaching.
Excited to get a few new horses out in 2018 and a few of the young horses we have bred will be coming up for sale, as I just can't ride them all. I have been very busy over the summer so far with lots of clients horses in for training and lots of new students ready to start lessons. So looks like 2018 will be a busy year.
Many thanks to my sponsors Flexible Fit Equestrian, Pepper Tree Farm Equine Clinic and QJ Riding Wear for their support in 2017 and looking forward to working with them again in 2018!
