Wanted!

I am on the hunt for a very special pony/horse between 12.2hh and 15.2hh. Age, breed, colour etc not an issue but must be a super safe pony for kids to learn to ride on. Needs to have a good mouth and fairly smooth paces, a nice balanced canter would be ideal for kids cantering for the first time.

I am willing to buy but would prefer to lease someone’s much loved pony that they can’t bear to part with. I can offer a 5 star home where your pony would be spoilt, given the best care, and all special needs catered for. Can manage cushings, founder, or other medical conditions.

Apart from being a professional rider I also teach kids to ride who don’t yet own their own horse. I currently have 2 ponies and it is a very easy life, they only have 2 or 3 40min lessons per week, so it’s the perfect semi retirement home for older ponies. The kids always bring treats for their ponies and love them like their own.

A few years ago a brought my retired FEI dressage horse back into work to be a school pony and what wonders it did for his health and suppleness. He hated just sitting about in the paddock he always seemed sad and bored, he much rathered be out doing something and getting lots of attention. When he was retired he was so stiff in the hindlegs it was hard for the farrier to trim his back feet, but after a few months as a school pony he was easily trotting over trots poles and found it so much easier to have his back feet picked up again. Sadly we lost him a few months ago and he is much missed by his students and parents alike.

It doesn't necessarily need to be that first bombproof lazy pony (I already have one of those), as I have kids of all ages and some adults wanting to learn to ride as well. If you have anything that would be suitable please send me a message and I will look forward to hearing from you!
